Family Legacy Writing

I began my writing career
when my first life-story book was published
for the national
trade market in 1984.
However, at that time I wasn't ready to do life-story writing full time. Because of my natural tendencies for detail,
I turned my attention to technical writing—particularly in the health and
environmental genres. My client
list includes AMSCO (now Steris Corporation), USDA/NRCS, Faith Mountain Company,
Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District, Rappahannock Conservation
Council, Cityview Magazine, and Virginia Tech. (This technical writing
background has proven an incredible asset for organizing complex life stories.) In 1993, when my mother became terminally ill, I asked her to record her life story to be made into a book. This project had a dramatic effect on both our lives, and I knew I had found, not only a new direction for my life, but my mission. I believe my mother’s book is the most valuable gift I ever received. It is my passion in life to help others write their life stories. Writing one’s story is an incredible experience with many rewards, healings, closures, and joys. And I believe personal histories are an integral part of an individual’s and family’s well being. I began Family Legacy Writing in 2002, and it is my goal to make a positive contribution to society by preserving individuals’ life stories for existing and future generations. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, I now reside in Monroe, Washington. I’ve always loved experiencing nature, and I particularly enjoy the lush Pacific Northwest environment and being with my grandchildren. |
